Two years ago my uncle was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. He had been a heavy smoker in his younger years and it was not surprising that he developed the disease. When my Uncle found out that he had cancer he refused to have himself treated. Instead he had the resolve to just enjoy the few months he had to live by spending more time with his family.
Fortunately while he was still healthy he had himself covered with critical illness insurance. He was paid a lump sum amount of $1 Million upon diagnosis. He could have used the money to undergo chemo therapy to extend his life but instead he chose to use the money and take several vacations with his family. Those were the most joyful moments of their lives. He did not live that long to enjoy all his money. He died a peaceful death with his wife and family by his side. He left the remainder of his monetary claim to his family as his final inheritance.
