Reporting accidents at work is very important. When an employee or a client visiting the work site is injured it is very important to have the proper paperwork completed. They should give a detailed account of what happened, when and why. Having a lot of details is important. It can make a lot of difference in whether an employee receives any compensation during the time that they are not able to work.

It is always a good idea to have a safety training program for all employees when they first come on board in the company. That way they will know what to do in case of an accident and where to go to get the proper paperwork that needs to be filled out. Most likely the Human Resources or Personnel Department will have these forms. Going to the immediate supervisor is always a good idea and then they will be able to get the forms for the employee.

If there are witnesses, they will have to write down what they saw also. They might be called up to testify if there is a court hearing in order to determine whether an employee should receive any type of compensation for the injury. That is why it is important for the witness to write down what they saw.

Reporting work accidents is a process that can protect both the employee and the employer. If there was neglect on the part of the employer, then this will have an affect of the outcome of the case. Work areas need to be kept clear of obstacles so that employees do not trip on anything while they are working.

All employees should be careful around equipment. They should know how to use them properly so that they do not get injured. An employer should have a manual that will allow their employees to know how to use a piece of equipment properly. Following these procedures should help to avoid accidents in the future.
